The Power of Teamwork

Posted by Joe Carmichael

commofhopefrtcovercupblog.jpgLyndon Johnson said, “There are no problems we cannot solve together, and very few we can solve by ourselves.” I am continually amazed at the power and impact of community as it comes together to tackle a task. A case in point - - as of Sunday, 106 COH units…probably representing almost 300 plus COHers, have come together to commit a total of $365,000 of their resources toward the Growing Hope campaign. Wow!!! This is one powerful statement!

In the book of Nehemiah, the account is recorded how each person did his or her part to build the wall around the city of Jerusalem: “From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah who were building the wall.” (Nehemiah 4:16-17) That is similar to what’s happening within COH. Each person is doing their part to move us closer to help make a dream become reality.

If you’re like me, I have a tendency to tackle most challenges on my own, but this is the least effective strategy. We need to make a habit of enlisting others to help us face our challenges. Nehemiah made sure that this principle of community coming together was in effect as they tackled their project. COHers have been enlisted in this project and have responded. My deep thanks to all the COH community for the way you have come together.
