COUNSELING MINISTRY
Community of Hope has made a commitment to provide counseling to its members and the community through a partnership with licensed professional counselors.
Bryan Atkinson
Bryan Atkinson is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and his Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary.
His clinical experience in the mental health field includes individual, marital, family, and group therapy. He has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in areas such as: depression, anxiety, co-dependency, addictions, self-esteem issues, anger, boundaries, marital and family relationship problems, troubled teens, and relationship problems.
One of Bryan’s primary goals is to provide a safe and compassionate environment for his clients. In such an environment, clients have the freedom to face difficult issues, gain insight, and find emotional healing. As emotional healing occurs, clients are better able to connect with themselves, God, and others and thereby become a more complete individual.
Counseling appointments are available by calling Bryan at (817) 228-8636 or you may email Bryan with any questions.
Heather Cawthon
My name is Heather Cawthon, and I am a licensed professional counselor supervisor with a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy. Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience working with trauma survivors and their families from diverse backgrounds. I am passionate about helping adult survivors of childhood trauma and working with couples to navigate challenging life experiences.
I served as the Clinical Director of Children First Counseling Center for five years, where I worked with children, adults, couples, and families dealing with domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, and intimate partner violence. My experience also includes serving as the Program Director and Clinical Supervisor on a Mobile Crisis Assessment Team and am proud to have served as the Senior Director of Programs at The Turning Point Rape Crisis Center in Collin County, where I led a team of skilled, trauma-trained professionals.
In addition to my professional experience, I am an EMDR Certified therapist, and I hold Level II Certification in Restoration Therapy. I am also an ICP (IASIS Certified Provider- IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback) and am trained in Prepare/Enrich, a program designed to help couples navigate the challenges of married life.
Outside of my work, I have been married for 32 years and have three grown children. As a therapist, I understand the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients, and I bring warmth, empathy, and a personal touch to my practice.
